Do you know what you are really taking home by working in the hair beauty industry per client?
I’ve sat down and worked out some figures, now these are real facts and figures from people that are in the hair, beauty and nail industry.
Let’s say typically you work six hours a day, five days a week, and you on average will get £30 per client per hour.
Sounds great.
You work flat out, your diary is full. You’re looking at getting about £900 a week. But what does this equate to, when you break this right down and you take into a fact all your expenses, what does it equate to?
I’ve worked this out, these are real facts and figures that I have got from people within the industry.
Now, we all know that our work doesn’t stop when we leave work. We have got a good couple of hours that evening where we will be spending, either restocking or we are spending on social media, marketing, messaging clients back and forth, securing appointments, chasing reviews, creating blogs, working on our website, whatever we are doing, there is always a few hours, on every single day, when you cannot earn your money because you are doing the background part of the business.
This also needs to be taken into account. Say you can do six clients a day, six hours, and another two hours of that is when you’re not putting money through the till.
Let’s break it down, paying out your commission, or your rental, your stock replacement, so let’s say £30 a client, it might cost you £8 per client for the actual stock that you are using. You then look at your rent, your rates, your travel, your food for the day, your laundry costs, your electricity, your water, everything that is taken into effect.
Now, as I said, these are real figures that I have taken from somebody within the industry. And it doesn’t stop there. So, what if you wanted to take six weeks a year off? So maybe four weeks you have a holiday, the other two weeks you have days off, time out.
These are days that you can’t put £900 through the till. These are days, if you are solely relying on time for money exchange, where you cannot earn any money.
So when you work this out on an annual basis, this figure is going to shock you, this figure is going to floor you and start making you think ‘damn, this is not sustainable’.
So, you break this all down, this does not take into a fact, your annual costs of insurance and licenses. Doesn’t take into account your replacement of machinery, you redecorating your clinic.
All these extra things that come across each year, this doesn’t take this into account.
So if you are taking £30 per hour for a nail treatment or a hair treatment, and you work flat out, six-hour days, five days a week, and this doesn’t take into account any no-show and clients that are not turning up.
If you work the six hours a day in clinic, five days a week, you put in extra time on the night time to catch it with your social media, your bookings, your cleaning, your laundry for the clinic, whatever it may be, when you break this all down, you are in fact only taking home £7.85 per hour.
The national minimum wage is more than that. So where you think, wow, okay, I’m booked up all week, I’ve got £900 going through the till, sounds amazing.
You sit and do your figures and you will be shocked at how much you are actually taking home to your family. And like I said, for that figure, you have to be flat out five days a week, six hours a day, and working on your business when your business doors are closed.
So this just completely validates that time for money exchange in the hair, beauty, aesthetics industry is not sustainable. It’s not sustainable if you want more money, it’s not sustainable for a profitable future and the only way this is going to take you is working flat out, five, six, seven, eight, nine hours a day, if you want to word more money well into your retirement. And then what happens is you then retire on £600 a month and that’s it, we’re done.
So, this is why I want to share this knowledge with you. And if you want to actually see that real stats and me breaking this all down, the real figures, then make sure you connect, I’m doing a presentation very shortly about my elevator program and I’ll be breaking all this down for you.
So, hope you’ve enjoyed the video and I hope it’s opened your eyes a little bit to thinking damn, £30 an hour sounds good, but when I break it down, I don’t wanna live on £7.85 an hour and that is what 95% of you are doing right now.
It isn’t too late to turn it around, I did this with my beauty business and I can teach you how. I want to break the mould and show you how you can earn money while you are asleep.
So thank you, enjoy.
Don’t forget to reach out on my BBB tribe, my Facebook group and you can see the presentation coming soon.
Bye now.
