So, how many times have you thought about asking a client to give you some feedback, asking for some photos from a client, asking for an influencer to represent your products or asking for an interview on your Instagram, and how many times have you thought about this and then you’ve just not followed through, you’ve thought, ‘nah, they’ll not want to do that’. Why would they want to share that? Why would they want to give me that information? Why would they want to be interviewed by me? We do this so much, we have these idea’s and we have these aims and these goals that pop into our head and we think, ‘yeah,
I’m going to ask them that, yes, I want a message all my clients, I’m going to get them to give me some little video testimonials or represent my product, or be interviewed’, and then we talk ourselves out of it. We retract back and talk ourselves out of it. Now, I want to challenge you to actually think through the eyes of children, through young children. Now, when you are, my daughter is seven years old, I’m going use her as an example. When you’re that age, you don’t give up. Your goals are so high, the sky is the limit, which is amazing, and we have to embrace that, but we never give up and we don’t take no for an answer. We get these ideas and we just go for it.
So, like even just the smallest thing of, you know, a later bedtime, they won’t give up, you say no, and they keep going, they keep going, they keep going, and then, you know what? You get him to bed the next day to do it again. So, I challenge you to look through the eyes of children, so, look at your kids or imagine what you were like as a child, and when you get these ideas, go for it, try and think like a child and I think the reason why we don’t do this is because obviously the main thing is the fear of rejection. Whether we don’t feel we’re good enough, whether over the years we’ve been told we’re not good enough, so we’re scared of putting ourselves out there. But I guarantee if you put yourself out there, yes, you’re going to get knock backs, obviously that’s life, you know, as a child, you get knocked back, but you keep going. You could get knock backs, but you’re going to get some real good, valuable golden nuggets that you’re going to get from it, you know? And it’s all about you, you will never know if you don’t ask and don’t put yourself out there. I did this recently, I wanted to interview some people for a podcast, and I asked five people, and I was thinking, ‘no, they’re not, about three of them aren’t going to say yes’, low and behold, I got four out of five and I was nervous to do that because I’m like,
‘Oh shit, what if they say no? What if they say, no, that’s going make me feel really bad, but how do you know?’ So, when you have these ideas, when you have these chances and these little ideas, these little creative juices start flowing and you think, you know what, I’m going to ask them to do that, I’m going ask my client for that, I’m going to ask them to be a client of mine, I want them to come on live on Instagram with me, when you have all these ideas, follow through with it, don’t stop, follow through with it. And I assure you 10, 20 ideas or 10 or 20 people you reach out to, you’re going to get 25% of them, for sure.
So, I challenge you next time you have these ideas, think through the eyes of your children, think through the eyes of a seven-year-old and you will have that sheer persistence and not be scared of them saying, no, you will just go for it.
